Empowerment i närområdet - En kvalitativ studie av Fritids- och Förebyggande verksamhets i Rosengård stadsdel, Malmö

Sammanfattning: Authors: Carl Lagrelius & Eduardo Ocaña Title: Empowerment in the Community - a qualitative study of Fritids- och Förebyggande Verksamhets work in the community of Rosengård, Malmö. Supervisor: Jan Magnusson The purpose of this study was to examine if the work done by the professional workers of Fritids- och Förebyggande Verksamhet in Rosengård could be considered as a form of empowerment. Furthermore we set out to see if the professional empowering work of ones target group brought with it a feeling of self-empowerment back to the professional worker. Based on a qualitative study where we interviewed six professionals from the organization in question we queried them about their work and set out to look for significant empirical evidence that could be explained with the help of our theoretical frame. Based on different views on empowerment and a meta-theory by Elisheva Sadan who tries to link empowerment to Anthony Giddens Structuration Theory we set out to explain the empirical evidence that we gathered from our respondents. We found that what we saw in Rosengård definitively could be described as empowerment and we also saw evidence of self-empowerment amongst the professional workers.
