Sammanfattning: The purpose of the survey was to investigate 9th grade students participation in Physical Education and if the environment around PE could have some effect on the participation. The method used was a quantitative survey that was sent to three different schools. The method was processed in the Survey & Report survey, and then sent as a link to the students who responded to the survey via computer or smartphone. The option was also to answer the paper questionnaire which some students chose to do. A total of 60 responses were received, of which a drop of 10 students because these students chose not to complete the survey. The result of the survey was presented by using bar charts showing how many percent of the students responded to the various questions. The result of the study showed that motivation about sport and health did not necessarily concern only participation in the lessons in Physical Education, but rather also about the environment around PE. The study showed that students experienced a certain type of stress, which was not really an insecurity about one’s own body, the insecurity was more about the stress about having the lessons placed in the middle of the day, which meant that the students had too little time to change clothes and to shower afterwards. The result showed that the students experienced that many in their own class was changing before and after PE, but that there were only a few students who showered afterwards. The survey also had positive results which showed that there were students who was motivated to participate in Physical Education. The results showed that there were pupils who, according to the curriculum (Skolverket, 2011), had continued interest in physical activity and health, which is one of the tasks of the subject.
