Analys & effektivisering av ABB Swedewaters materialhanteringsprocess

Detta är en M1-uppsats från Lunds universitet/Teknisk logistik

Sammanfattning: Background: Generally among industrialized warehouses, the main operational task is to supply the assembly or manufacturing with material, so is also the situation at ABB Swedewater. When manufacturing a product, the warehouse personnel pick necessary components requested by othersections of the production. This stresses the importance of a correct performance when picking, as this forms the base for therest of the production. Purpose: The objective of the thesis is to provide suggestions to a more efficient picking process with fewer disruptions. Objectives: The thesis main objective is to examine the handling and flow of materials in production at ABB Swedewater. The objective is to: • Reduce picking time with at least 30%. • Reduce production disruptions caused by material deficiencies. Around 90% or more of picked orders should be free from material deficiencies. Method: This thesis uses information and facts collected based on both qualitative and quantitative data collection methods. The synergy between the models provided a basis for a relevant decision-making and the creating of recommendations. A system approach has therefore been used in the study. Furthermore, an abductive research method was used because the results are derived from a critical examination of values and observed processes. Data collection consists of a literature review, interviews and observations. Findings: The Master Thesis was based on an analysis of the current situation, in order to identify areas for improvement. Improvements were identified and analyzed with tools in material handling, Toyota Production System and flow analyzes. To ensure conclusions and generate new ones, a benchmarking was conducted against: • Sandvik, Svedala • Huhnseal, Landskrona • ABB, Ludvika The benchmarking resulted in knowledge of the practical use of the theoretical tools. Recommendations were identified in the following areas: • Standardization • Materials • Work practices • ABC classification • Other material handling • Management of small components and supplies • Scanning System • Quality control The implementation procedure and ranking of the recommendations are estimated and determined by ABB Swedewater. The implementation of the proposed recommendations should result in fewer material deficiencies and reduced picking-time.
