Maskulinitetens kraft : En studie om huruvida alla är välkomna inom svensk lagidrott

Sammanfattning: The purpose of this study is to ascertain how great the acceptance is in team sports against minorities. Our idea about team sports today, is that it’s characterized by an overall macho culture and the norm is to be masculine and heterosexual. With this study we want to find out how difficult it’s to depart from these specific standards and the problems that can arise when those standards are not followed. We have chosen a qualitative approach consisting of a few extensive interviews. The study has shown that masculinity is something that is constantly reproduced by team sports and individuals' abilities to sustain this scenario. It still exists a kind of stigma regarding norm breakers applicable not only on sexuality but also on masculinity. We have also come to the conclusion that it is much easier to come out as gay today in team sports than it was ten years ago, violating the standards do not carry the same social stratification as before.
