Sammanfattning: Abstract Author: Marie Kock Title: IN REAL LIFE PÅ FACEBOOK, Cyborg; A deeper understanding of social phobia and social media Supervisor: Jan Magnusson Assessor: Håkan Jönson The aim of the study is to gain a deeper understanding of the paradox that consist within the phenomena persons with social phobia who participate in social media and to investigate the meaning of social media for people with social phobia who participate in social media. More specifically based on the issues; why do people with social phobia participate in social media? And how do people with social phobia use social media? The study is qualitative and uses the research method, case study. The study's empirical data consists of interviews with people with social phobia who interact on Facebook. The research methodological solution is Internet-research with the technical solutions, qualitative interviews and participant observation. With the help of the theoretical concept, cyborg, we gain a deeper understanding of how the paradoxical phenomenon of social phobia and social media withdrawn once the technology protects the physical body from exposure. This means that Facebook enables participation in social interaction in the virtual room.
