  1. 1. EVOKED PHASE COHERENCE AS A BIOMARKER FOR ADAPTIVE NEUROMODULATION IN RAT MODEL OF PARKINSON'S DISEASE

    Master-uppsats, Umeå universitet/Institutionen för psykologi

    Författare :Love Zackrisson; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Adaptive; Closed Loop; Neuromodulation; Parkinson’s Disease; Rat model; 6-OHDA; ITC; Phase Coherence; Bayesian Model; Classifier; Spinal Cord Stimulation; Deep Brain Stimulation.; Adaptiv; Closed Loop; Neuromodulation; Parkinson’s Sjukdom; Råttmodell; 6-OHDA; ITC; Faskoherens; Bayesiansk Modell; Klassificerare; Ryggradsstimulering; Djup Hjärnstimulering.;

    Sammanfattning : Neuromodulation, such as spinal cord stimulation (SCS) and deep brain stimulation (DBS), has been shown to modulate pathophysiological brain activity and provide symptomatic therapy for several neurological disorders, including Parkinson’s Disease. The effectiveness of this therapy could likely be further improved by neuromodulation that is adaptive, delivering stimulation more selectively, by monitoring a biomarker in recorded brain signals, which indicates the presence of a pathological state. 2. 2. Investigation of coherence between limbic structures in a rodent model of Parkinson's Disease

    Magister-uppsats, Umeå universitet/Institutionen för psykologi

    Författare :Love Zachrisson; [2021]
    Nyckelord :Parkinson’s Disease; PD; Psychosis; Schizophrenia; MK801; Synchrony; Coherence; 6-OHDA; Rats; 128-channel multi electrode array; MATLAB; LFP; Biomarker; ASSR; Steady-state response; Parkinsons sjudkom; PD; Psykos; Schizofreni; MK801; Synkronicitet; Koherens; 6-OHDA; Försökdsjur; Råttor; Elektrodimplantat; MATLAB; LFP; Biomarkör; ASSR; Steady-state responser;

    Sammanfattning : Parkinson’s Disease affects 10 million people worldwide, with 40% of patients developing an associated psychosis which has been identified by studies as the number one source of caretaker distress and is related to increased mortality. This is further complicated by the fact that typical antipsychotic drugs worsen many of the motor symptoms implicated in Parkinson’s Disease, with only one commercially available drug able to ameliorate both symptoms. 3. 3. HIGH-FREQUENCY OSCILLATIONS IN A MOUSE MODEL OF PARKINSON’S DISEASE

    Kandidat-uppsats, Umeå universitet/Institutionen för psykologi

    Författare :Love Zachrisson; [2020]
    Nyckelord :6-OHDA; Parkinson s Disease; Basal Ganglia; LID; Gamma oscillation; 80Hz; HFO; Multichannel electrode array; Parkinsons sjukdom; 6-OHDA; LID; HFO; Gamma oscillering; 80Hz; Basala Ganglierna; Elektrodimplantat;

    Sammanfattning : Dopamine replacement therapy is the main method of treating Parkinson’s Disease (PD), however over time this treatment causes increasingly abnormal, involuntary movements. This symptom, known as Levodopa-Induced-Dyskinesia (LID) is associated with aberrant, high frequency oscillations (HFOs) in the motor cortex and basal ganglia, as demonstrated with implanted electrodes in human Parkinson’s patients as well as in a rat model of Parkinson’s Disease. 4. 4. THE NEURODEGENERATION PROCESS IN THE STRIATUM OF MICE EXPOSED TO OBESOGENIC DIETS

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Examensarbeten i molekylärbiologi

    Författare :Ankita Talukdar; [2020]
    Nyckelord :Biology and Life Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Obesity and diabetes are known to impact brain function and alter metabolism. Studies in rodents show that consumption of high fat and high sugar diets lead to brain dysfunction affecting memory and cognition, and increases risk of cerebro-vascular and neurodegenerative disorders.
