  1. 1. Petrography of impactites from the Dellen impact structure, Sweden

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Författare :Robert Mroczek; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Dellen; Impact; structure; magnetite; apatite; shock waves; shock-metamorphic; features; Impactite; petrography; scanning electron microscope; SEM; geology; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Identification and characterization of shock-metamorphic features in hypervelocity impact craters is important for our understanding of how shock waves interact with geologic materials and how impact craters form, which in turn is essential to our understanding of what role impact cratering played in the development of our solar system. Of particular interest are accessory minerals like apatite, which contains various volatiles that can affect the atmosphere of a body, or magnetite whose magnetic properties constitute a remote sensing indicator which allows us to study and understand the internal structures of distant bodies. 2. 2. Spatial analysis of arsenic and fluoride mobilization in groundwater around Mount Meru, northern Tanzania

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Hållbar utveckling, miljövetenskap och teknik

    Författare :Henriette Nishimwe; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Arsenic; Fluoride; Groundwater; Mobilization; Mount Meru; Geochemical and Spatial Modelling; Arsenic; Fluoride; Groundwater; Mobilization; Mount Meru; Geochemical and Spatial Modelling;

    Sammanfattning : In Tanzania, approximately 76% of the drinking water supplies is dependent on groundwater sources. However, the groundwater in north Tanzania is susceptible to contamination by arsenic and fluoride. This study examines the spatial analysis of arsenic and fluoride mobilization in groundwater around Mount Meru, located in northern Tanzania. LÄS MER

  3. 3. EBSD Investigation of High-Temperature Magnetite from Apatite-Iron-Oxide Deposits: Implications for the Formation of Giant Kiruna-Type Deposits

    Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Mineralogi, petrologi och tektonik

    Författare :Jens Henriksson; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Kiruna-type deposit; electron backscattered diffraction; crystal settling; Fe-O systematics; crystal alignment;

    Sammanfattning : European iron production is to a large extent dependant on massive Kiruna type apatite-iron ore deposits. In this contribution, high-temperature magnetite samples from apatite-iron-oxide deposits are investigated by means of Electron Backscattered Diffraction. However, the origin of Kiruna-type deposits is still unresolved. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Petrography and Mineral Chemistry of the Sälskär Breccia (Alnö Alkaline Complex, Central Sweden)

    Kandidat-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Författare :Vincent Gustafsson; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Alnö alkaline complex; diatreme; melilitite; pelletal lapilli; volcanic breccia; Alnö alkalina område; diatrem; melilitit; pelletal lapilli; vulkanisk breccia;

    Sammanfattning : Primitive magmas can provide important details about the mantle from which they are derived. In this thesis, petrographic observations and new mineral chemistry analyses of the Sälskär breccia from the Alnö alkaline complex, central Sweden, are reported. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Geokemisk utvärdering av uran i LKAB:sgruvvatten i Malmberget : Sammanställning och tolkning av mätdata

    Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för samhällsbyggnad och naturresurser

    Författare :Thomas Hedin; [2021]
    Nyckelord :uran; geokemi; u234 u238;

    Sammanfattning : Havs- och vattenmyndigheten har tagit fram föreskrifter om klassificering, miljökvalitetsnormer och bedömningsgrunder avseende ekologisk status av ytvatten där uran klassificeras som ett särskilt förorenade ämne. LKAB som är ett statligt ägt bolag som bedriver gruvverksamheter i Kiruna, Malmberget och Svappavaara har ålagt sig att utreda förekomsten av uran i sitt gruvvatten. LÄS MER
