1. Effects of early exposure to fluoxetine on behavioural development in zebrafish
Kandidat-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för biologisk grundutbildningSammanfattning : Many pharmaceuticals are stable molecules and after human excretion they enter the wastewater facilities where roughly 60 % is removed. The remaining residues will affect the concentration in close by streams and at the effluent, where fish like to spawn. Therefore, the development and behaviour of aquatic life is potentially at risk. LÄS MER
2. THE FIRST ACTIVE ACID SULFATE SOIL FOUND OUTSIDE THE BALTIC BASIN, IN VISKA VALLEY WEST COAST OF SWEDEN
Master-uppsats, Göteborgs universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaperSammanfattning : Acid sulfate (AS) soils are naturally formed but are responsible for environmental problem due to its low pH. Drainage of active AS soils can lead to mobilization of harmful metals and a severe pH drop in nearby aquatic environments, which in turn may harm the ecological conditions. LÄS MER
3. Predicting Chemical-Gene Interactions
Master-uppsats, Göteborgs universitet / Institutionen för biologi och miljövetenskapSammanfattning : Pesticide use in agriculture has become a growing concern as it can have detrimental effects on the environment. The excessive use of these chemicals often leads to them seeping into nearby water bodies, causing harm to aquatic organisms. LÄS MER
4. Ecological risk assessment of pesticide use in rice farming in the Mekong Delta , Vietnam
Magister-uppsats, Stockholms universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografiSammanfattning : Pesticide use in rice farming is a common practice in the Mekong Delta and poses ecological risks to aquatic organisms, the environment, and human health. This study focused on the ecological risk assessment of pesticide use in rice farming using the PRIMET model as a decision support tool to evaluate the risks of pesticide exposure, ecotoxicity, and risk characterization, as well as employing the species sensitivity distribution (SSD) assessment model to calculate the potentially affected fraction (PAF) of species based on the computed predicted environmental concentrations (PECs) from PRIMET. 5. The effects of fishing on stability of a food web under climate warming
Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. Of Aquatic ResourcesSammanfattning : Predicting the effects of fishing in a warmer environment caused by climate change requires knowledge of what trophic level is fished on, the physiological effects of temperature on fish, and how these two affect ecological interactions. Both temperature and fishing are known to affect the stability of food webs in several ways. LÄS MER
