  1. 1. Shifting focus from yields to food supply : an evaluation of the ‘number of people fed per hectare’ indicator at farm and national level

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Department of Molecular Sciences

    Författare :Ida Ekqvist; [2024]
    Nyckelord :Land use efficiency; Sustainability indicators; Agricultural productivity; Food production;

    Sammanfattning : The challenge of feeding a growing global population while reducing the pressure on climate and ecosystems has gained much attention in research over the last decades. A crucial yet often overlooked aspect in research addressing this complex challenge is the efficiency of food production in meeting nutritional needs within the constraints of global cropland resources. 2. 2. Feasibility Study of Energy Harvesting via Biofuel Cell for Miniaturised Implantable Biosensors

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Skolan för kemi, bioteknologi och hälsa (CBH)

    Författare :Rebecca Bonato; [2024]
    Nyckelord :Biofuel cell; Blood; Energy Harvesting; Glucose; Power Density; Oxygen;

    Sammanfattning : In the current pursuit of sustainable energy, biofuel cells are attracting considerable attention. Within biomedical engineering, the concept of harnessing energy from biological fluids, such as blood, holds significant promise, enabling both full autonomy and miniaturization. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Exploring the Determinants of Agricultural Commodity Returns

    Master-uppsats, Göteborgs universitet/Graduate School

    Författare :Andreas Blidberg; Ludwig Skans; [2023-06-29]
    Nyckelord :Agricultural commodities; Energy commodities; Granger causality; Vector Error Correction Model; VECM; Impulse Response Functions; IRF;

    Sammanfattning : This paper investigates the Granger causal relations between agricultural commodity returns and several potential determinants using a multivariate Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) and Impulse Response Functions (IRF). Agricultural commodities are critical for global food supply, and understanding their determinants is crucial for policymakers and investors. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Profitability During a Sustainability Transformation - A Case Study of a Swedish Petroleum and Biofuel Company

    Kandidat-uppsats, Göteborgs universitet/Företagsekonomiska institutionen

    Författare :Michael Crona; Filip Linnér; [2023-02-27]
    Nyckelord :This report examines the financial profitability of a petroleum and biofuel company during their sustainability transformation. The case company is Preem AB; the largest fuel company in Sweden. The study finds that debt-to-equity ratios tend to increase with investments in more sustainable solutions. This could propose a higher financial risk to the firm. The report also proposes and discuss the use of metrics for CO2- emission that are easier to understand than just the weight of the gas emitted. Preem does not seem to benefit from being part of the European Union’s Emissions Trading System ETS ; since their green investments are focused on reducing emissions in the use phase of their products; not in the production phase; which is what the ETS measures and rewards. The case study is based on an interview with a director at Preem to get an insight to the green investments. Data for financial- and environmental performance are collected from official reports published by Preem.;

  5. 5. Biokolteknik på lantbruk : en analys av ett investeringsbeslut

    Kandidat-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Economics

    Författare :Christine Hernblom; Sara Schmidt; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Biokolteknik; Lönsamhet; Lantbruk; Investeringsprocess; Biochar technology; Profitability; Agriculture; Investment prosses;

    Sammanfattning : Lantbruksföretag har vanligen stora energibehov och samtidigt relativt små marginaler. Det är därför viktigt med en stabil och lönsam energianläggning. Det blir allt vanligare att lantbrukare investerar i innovativ bioenergiteknik. Detta för att frångå marknadens volatila elpriser och samtidigt producera hållbar bioenergi. LÄS MER
