16. The Binding Mechanism of Carbapenems in the Class A beta-lactamase IMI-1 : A Molecular Dynamics Study of Ligand Stability
Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, Uppsala universitet/BiokemiSammanfattning : Antibiotic resistance is a global and accelerating matter. Over time, the bacteria have evolved several defense mechanisms against the antibiotics. One of the defense mechanisms is that the bacteria can produce enzymes with the ability to hydrolyze the characteristic b-lactam ring of the antibiotics. These enzymes are called b-lactamases. 17. Construction and Evaluation of a Cre-lox-Based Fluorescent Conjugation Tracking System
Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för medicinsk biokemi och mikrobiologiSammanfattning : Plasmids are small, circular, extrachromosomal double-stranded genetic elements present in bacteria. Plasmids can replicate independently of the bacterial chromosome and play an important role as a transmitter of antibiotic resistance genes between bacteria. LÄS MER
18. Recombinant Expression of Novel Wild Type Oat Hemoglobins in Escherichia Coli
Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Tillämpad biokemi; Lunds universitet/BeräkningskemiSammanfattning : Hemoglobin is a protein transporting oxygen through our bloodstreams and is as such essential for aerobic life. Hemoglobins also exist in plants, with a wide variety of functions other than oxygen transport. LÄS MER

20. Epidemiology, Risk Factors, Hidden Gut Resistome and Characterization of Multidrug-Resistant Enterobacterales Colonizing the Intestinal Tract of Swiss Expatriates
Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för medicinsk biokemi och mikrobiologiSammanfattning : A study following long-term residents from countries with low prevalence of multidrug-resistant Enterobacterales residing in countries with high prevalence has never been done before at this scale. In this ongoing work, we analyzed the epidemiology and risk factors for colonization with multidrug-resistant Enterobacterales in 57 Swiss embassy employees and expatriates stationed worldwide by administering a questionnaire to establish facets of participants' diet, lifestyle, and medical history.
