  1. 1. Methods for determining focal point and delay for ultrasound arrays and multichannel electronics

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Avdelningen för Biomedicinsk teknik

    Författare :Svante Rosenlind; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Focusing algorithms; k-wave; Spatiotemporal inverse filter; Gerchberg- Saxton algorithm; Focused ultrasound; Technology and Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : High intensity focused ultrasound is a growing technique for tissue ablation, among other uses, and given its destructive capabilities, there is a need for control of where the energy is delivered. There exist a number of methods for focusing such ultrasound arrays, but these often assume prior knowledge of the impulse response, or require extensive full-system simulations. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Turning Night into Day : Does Skyglow affect Bat Activity and Timing of Emergence?

    Master-uppsats, Stockholms universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi

    Författare :Torge Gerwin; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Skyglow; Bats; Light pollution; Bat activity; Bat emergence; Riparian forest; Landscape composition; Multi-scale landscape; Landscape management; Sweden;

    Sammanfattning : Artificial brightness of the night sky caused by the backscatter of artificial light in the atmosphere is a consequence of ongoing urbanization. Skyglow covers 88 % of Europe’s surface and poses significant threats to biodiversity. Extensive research on responses of bats to direct light pollution already revealed significant impacts. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Wind energy and environmental impacts of wind turbine projects

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Landscape Architecture, Planning and Management (from 130101)

    Författare :Chadi Kattach; [2023]
    Nyckelord :wind; wind turbine; landscape;

    Sammanfattning : My goal in writing this paper was to become more familiar with with wind farm planning and its relationship to the landscape, as a strong and bold intervention in the existing landscape. I examined some of the side effects of onshore wind farms in general, By studying different research on the effects of wind turbines on the surrounding key species such as humans, terrestrial mammals, bats and birds. 4. 4. Decoding communication of non-human species - Unsupervised machine learning to infer syntactical and temporal patterns in fruit-bats vocalizations.

    Master-uppsats, Stockholms universitet/Institutionen för data- och systemvetenskap

    Författare :Luigi Assom; [2023]
    Nyckelord :animal decision making; unsupervised machine learning; UMAP; autoencoders; classifiers; bioacoustics; combinatory syntax; animal communication;

    Sammanfattning : Decoding non-human species communication offers a unique chance to explore alternative intelligence forms using machine learning. This master thesis focuses on discreteness and grammar, two of five linguistic areas machine learning can support, and tackles inferring syntax and temporal structures from bioacoustics data annotated with animal behavior. 5. 5. Hur påverkas fladdermöss av bytet till LED från traditionella ljuskällor? : En jämförelse mellan olika ljuskällors påverkan på fyra arter av fladdermöss i Karlstads kommun

    Kandidat-uppsats, Karlstads universitet/Fakulteten för hälsa, natur- och teknikvetenskap (from 2013)

    Författare :Jennifer Lehikoinen; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Chiroptera; bats; LED; light pollution; artificial lighting; ALAN; Chiroptera; fladdermöss; LED; ljusföroreningar; artificiell belysning;

    Sammanfattning : Ljusföroreningar är ett stort framväxande problem och då fladdermöss oftast är nattaktiva erfaras de ingå i den taxa som påverkas mest. LED-belysning blir allt vanligare i gatubelysning och utstrålar bland annat inget UV-ljus jämfört med traditionella ljuskällor som utstrålar UV-ljus och därmed förändrar insekters- och potentiellt fladdermössens beteende.
