I will be analyzing the archaeological material in accordance to the ocean, and to what we can interpret as ritual and cosmological variables at the site through ritual theory, and with a method of comparative analogy and research. Tidigare forskning om hur begravningar har hanterats vid andra epidemier, så som aids-epidemin på 80- och 90-talet och kolera-epidemin i Guinea-Bissau 1994, samt hur begravningstraditionen har utvecklats i slutet av 1900-talet har fungerat som inspiration för vad som ska undersökas i denna rapport.     Sammanfattning : Previous research on the funerary practices of the Viking Age has found evidence to suggest that people were sometimes executed for the purpose of following others into death. There are several well-known examples of this practice from around Scandinavia, including graves from Birka, Bollstanäs, and Gerdrup, where men appear to have been executed using brutal methods.
