  1. 1. Temporary Halting of Wind Turbine Rotors toMitigate Effects on Birds

    Kandidat-uppsats, Umeå universitet/Institutionen för ekologi, miljö och geovetenskap

    Författare :Ola Hedberg; [2024]
    Nyckelord :Bird; mitigation; effect; wind farm; turbine; wind power; halting; collision; risk; birds; power; generation;

    Sammanfattning : This study assesses the viability of temporarily halting wind turbine operations as amitigation measure to protect bird populations during migration periods. Conducted in thenorthern Baltic, it examines the migration patterns, timings, and altitudes of various birdspecies, aiming to identify the most critical times for implementing turbine stoppages. 2. 2. Bridging Language & Data : Optimizing Text-to-SQL Generation in Large Language Models

    Master-uppsats, Linköpings universitet/Artificiell intelligens och integrerade datorsystem

    Författare :Niklas Wretblad; Fredrik Gordh Riseby; [2024]
    Nyckelord :Chaining; Classification; Data Quality; Few-Shot Learning; Large Language Model; Machine Learning; Noise; Prompt; Prompt Engineering; SQL; Structured Query Language; Text-to-SQL; Zero-Shot Learning; Noise Identification;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis explores text-to-SQL generation using Large Language Models within a financial context, aiming to assess the efficacy of current benchmarks and techniques. The central investigation revolves around the accuracy of the BIRD-Bench benchmark and the applicability of text-to-SQL models in real-world scenarios. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Estimating historic ranges of extinct scavenging birds from North America during the late Pleistocene using co-occurrence data from the fossil record

    Master-uppsats, Göteborgs universitet / Institutionen för biologi och miljövetenskap

    Författare :Melissa Miranda; [2023-06-30]
    Nyckelord :Scavenging birds; Vultures; Co-occurrence Data; Range Estimates; Spatial Autoregressive Models; Co-extinction;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of my study was to estimate and compare the historic range of nine scavenging birds from North America that went jointly extinct with their mammalian megafaunal prey in the Late Pleistocene. Although the severity and timing of their co-extinction are strongly correlated, there has been little analytical support in providing estimates for the possible geographic distribution of scavenging birds prior to the extinction event. 4. 4. Biologisk mångfald på urbana begravningsplatser : från välvårdat till välmående

    Kandidat-uppsats, Göteborgs universitet/Institutionen för kulturvård

    Författare :Josefine Larsson; Sebastian Sederblad; [2023-05-03]
    Nyckelord :artrikedom; begravningsplats; biodiversity; biologisk mångfald; biotoper; cemeteries; grön infrastruktur; hållbar utveckling; kyrkogård; livsmiljö; stadskyrkogård; urbana miljöer; urbanisering; urbanization;

    Sammanfattning : With a thorough literature study this paper aims to pinpoint several biological features that in some way functions to preserve and/or benefit biodiversity in urban environments and, if possible, specifically urban cemeteries. This compilation will then be used as a tool to compare if similar biological features are present in the urban cemeteries, we in our case study have chosen to examine. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Biodiversity Monitoring Using Machine Learning for Animal Detection and Tracking

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Författare :Qian Zhou; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Small Target Detection; Target Tracking; YOLOv5; DeepSORT; Attention Mechanism; Loss Function; Feature Extraction and Fusion Network; Detektering Av små sål; sålspårning; YOLOv5; DeepSORT; uppmärksamhetsmekanism; förlustfunktion; fusionsnätverk;

    Sammanfattning : As an important indicator of biodiversity and ecological environment in a region, the number and distribution of animals has been given more and more attention by agencies such as nature reserves, wetland parks, and animal protection supervision departments. To protect biodiversity, we need to be able to detect and track the movement of animals to understand which animals are visiting the space. LÄS MER
