    Sammanfattning : Politics and social life are essentially about decision making, but great parts of that which politics aims to govern, that which social life revolves around and that which is studied in political science is not necessarily the result of conscious decisions. This some philosophers and political theorists would attribute to spontaneous order, arguing that certain norms, customs and institutions have evolved as the result of human action without, for that matter, being the result of human design.     Sammanfattning : In several stages during the 19th century, a so-called regulatory system was introduced to govern the prostitution market in Stockholm. These sets of laws meant, among other things, that prostitution was permitted and that prostituted women were obliged to undergo compulsory gynecological examinations to ensure that they were not carriers of venereal infection.     Sammanfattning : By examining the British satirical magazine Punch's presentation of the Irish during the Repeal-movement, this study explores how satire can be used as a tool for colonial powers to establish dominance over differing nationalities through print media. This has been examined by extracting traits attributed to the Irish in Punch's illustrations and articles from 1842 - 1848, the Repeal independence movements most active years. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : "The long shadow of the emperor: fear and British press during the Napoleonic Wars (1795 –1815)” was a master thesis that combined the history of emotions with the use of quantitative computational techniques. The main objectives of the project were to detect and analyse the fear around the figure of Napoleon Bonaparte in the British press, between 1795 and 1815, and to check the feasibility of the proposed quantitative techniques for the history of emotions.
