6. Cr-spinels in the Franklinian Mobile Belt : a geochemical record of Paleozoic tectonics
Kandidat-uppsats, Stockholms universitet/Institutionen för geologiska vetenskaperSammanfattning : The chemical compositions of Cr-spinel extracted from mafic and ultramafic rocks collected on Ellesmere Island in the Arctic Canadian Archipelago were obtained through electron microprobe analyses. The extensively altered rocks are sampled from rock units in the Franklinian MobileBelt, which is representative of a Paleozoic tectonically active oceanic regime of which little is presently known. 7. Knowledge and Implementation of Climate Change Adaptation in the Infrastructure Sector in Nunavut, Canada
Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Avdelningen för Riskhantering och SamhällssäkerhetSammanfattning : The Arctic is at the forefront of climate change and is considered to be the most at risk, warming at twice the rate of the global annual average. The environment and its inhabitants are and will be subjected to deep transformational shifts, with changes in temperature and climate having potentially worldwide repercussions. LÄS MER
8. Effects of Wildfire Burn on Permafrost Landcover and Catchment Hydrology in Manitoba, Canada
Kandidat-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaperSammanfattning : Permafrost is a strongly controlling factor on Arctic hydrology due to its effect on ground permeability, and thus surface and ground water flow paths. As wildfires are increasing in occurrence and magnitude in permafrost regions, they may alter the hydrological regime via permafrost thaw and degradation that increases ground permeability. LÄS MER
9. Formation of Sulphides in the Canadian High Arctic Large Igneous Province; Testing the Influence of Sedimentary Rocks
Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaperSammanfattning : Large Igneous Provinces (LIPs) form during short-lived pulses of extensive magmatic activity. LIPs are known for their ability to affect global climate as well as for their Ni-Cu-PGE ore potential. LÄS MER
10. Securing the Arctic : A comparative study of mainstream media representation of the securitization of the Arctic in Norway and Canada
Kandidat-uppsats, Högskolan Väst/Avd för juridik, ekonomi, statistik och politikSammanfattning : This thesis aims to describe and compare how the securitization of the Arctic is represented in mainstream media of Norway and Canada. As two Arctic nations part of the likeminded group in international relations it is interesting to see how national media frames respective nations’ Arctic interests and strategy. LÄS MER
