  1. 1. Controls over stream temperature in a northern boreal landscape

    Master-uppsats, Umeå universitet/Institutionen för ekologi, miljö och geovetenskap

    Författare :Oskar Damström; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Aquatic ecosystems; Climate change; Stream warming; Boreal streams;

    Sammanfattning : With widespread increases in air temperature, it is expected that the temperature of aquatic ecosystems will also increase, especially at high latitudes. Warmer streams and rivers could have severe, direct impacts on cold-adapted aquatic fauna but may also indirectly influence species by reducing the amount of suitable habitat. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Groundwater modeling of Krycklan catchment and evaluation of the groundwater discharge distribution

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Hållbar utveckling, miljövetenskap och teknik

    Författare :Sandra Edström; [2022]
    Nyckelord :groundwater modelling; groundwater flow; Krycklan catchment; topography-controlled groundwater surface; evapotranspiration; groundwater discharge; groundwater recharge; grundvattenmodellering; grundvattenflöde; Krycklan avrinningsområde; topografi-kontrollerad grundvattenyta; evapotranspiration; grundvattenutflöde; grundvatteninfiltration;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis aimed to evaluate the groundwater discharge distribution in the Krycklan catchment by developing a groundwater flow model using COMSOL Multiphysics and assuming a topography- controlled groundwater surface. Previous research has shown that the groundwater surface can be modeled as a subdued replica of the topography in humid climate regions where the permeability of the subsurface is low and where the groundwater surface is shallow. 3. 3. GIS, tracer test and water balance based hydrological analysis in Tarfala, Northern Sweden

    Kandidat-uppsats, Stockholms universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi

    Författare :Elias Koivisto; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Tarfala; DEM; Tracer test; Water balance; the Arctic; Climate change; Permafrost; Glacier;

    Sammanfattning : Current climate change poses a threat to the Arctic due to increasing temperatures, which cause the permafrost and glaciers to melt and thaw. This thesis focused on analyzing water balances in Tarfala catchment between 2000 and 2020 and using GIS as a support for tracer test results measured in Tarfala in 2021. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Effects of afforestation of agricultural land on the water balance in Ethiopian Highlands

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Soil and Environment

    Författare :Mwala Silumesi; [2022]
    Nyckelord :acacia decurrens; aquaCrop Mode; afforestation; water balance; teff;

    Sammanfattning : In this study, I examined how land use change affects the partitioning of water and how soil-plant interactions are impacted by yearly rainfall at a stand scale. Even though many studies have been conducted to evaluate the extent of land use change and the economic impacts, few have attempted to study the rapid farmer-driven afforestation with Acacia decurrens and also disaggregated dry, normal and dry seasons at stand scale. 5. 5. Massbalans av salt, kväve och fosfor i Dynestadsjön : En pilotstudie innefattande flödesmätningar och modellering

    Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Författare :Isak Spett; [2021]
    Nyckelord :Brackish water; fish death; eutrophication; environmental impact; the Baltic Sea; agriculture; SonTek-IQ Plus; MATLAB; Simulink; Bräckt vatten; fiskdöd; övergödning; miljöpåverkan; Östersjön; lantbruk; SonTek-IQ Plus; MATLAB; Simulink;

    Sammanfattning : Dynestadsjön in Gamleby, Västervik municipality, has a history of collapses due to lack ofoxygen and high levels of salt, nitrogen and phosphorus. The high levels of nutrients havegiven rise to deteriorating living conditions for aquatic organisms. LÄS MER
