1. Metaller i Vombsjön - Mygglarver som bioindikator för miljöövervakning
Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Centrum för miljö- och klimatvetenskap (CEC)Sammanfattning : This study investigates concentrations of eight metals (Cu, Zn, Cd, Pb, Hg, Cr, Ni, As) in the freshwater resource Lake Vomb, located in the south of Sweden (Scania), and explores the potential use of deformed Chironomidae larvae as bioindicator. Sediment samples from six locations were analysed against threshold values from the Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management and background values from the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency. 2. Stickleback diets in bays along the northen Baltic Sea
Kandidat-uppsats, Umeå universitet/Institutionen för ekologi, miljö och geovetenskapSammanfattning : Coastal populations of perch (Perca fluviatilis) in the Baltic Sea has declined substantially the last decades while the populations of three-spined sticklebacks (Gasterosteus aculeatus) has increased rapidly during the same time period. Earlier studies have suggested that predation on perch larvae and or competition from sticklebacks are the causes behind the decline in perch. LÄS MER
3. Mouthpart deformities of Chironomid larvae as an indicator of heavy metal polluted water
Kandidat-uppsats, Umeå universitet/Institutionen för ekologi, miljö och geovetenskapSammanfattning : Freshwater ecosystems are under increasing pressure from a variety of contaminants, including heavy metals from mining operations, which can have complex effects that are difficult to evaluate. To detect early warnings from elevated concentrations of metals, organisms are sought to be used as monitoring tools. LÄS MER
4. Förekomsten av mundelsskador hos Fjädermygglarver i Skellefteälven
Magister-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Miljövetenskaplig utbildningSammanfattning : Larvae from the non-biting midge family Chironomidae have previously been demonstrated to be sensitive to environmental pollution in aquatic environments. Exposure to different contaminants has resulted in an increasing occurrence of deformities of the mouthparts in the larvae. LÄS MER
5. How does predation from fish influence the benthic invertebrates’ species composition in the Phragmites australis and Chara vegetation of Lake Takern?
Master-uppsats, EkologiSammanfattning : Predation is one of the important selective factors that regulate the species composition of benthic invertebrate communities. The study objective was to investigate the invertebrate distribution in two contrasting habitats in Lake Takern, southern Sweden, submerged Chara vegetation and emergent Phragmites australis vegetation, and to investigate the influence of predation from fish on certain invertebrates.
