Demenssjukdomar innebär en progressiv försämring av kognitiva funktioner, vilket medför symtom som minnesstörningar, rumsliga oförmågor, nedsatta språkförståelser, förlust av inlärda funktioner, nedsatta praktiska förmågor samt beteendeförändringar.
