  1. 1. Using a GIS to enable an economic, land use and energy output comparison between small wind powered turbines and large-scale wind farms: the case of Oslo, Norway.

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Colin Potter; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Geography; GIS; Wind power; Renewable energy sources; urban wind energy; urban areas; planning; vertical axis wind turbines; comparative studies; urban integrated energy systems; Oslo; Roan; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Responding to an identified knowledge gap, the study aims to determine if smaller wind turbines located on top of existing urban buildings are more resource efficient (land utilization and economically) than large scale wind farms. To answer this question, using a GIS, the resource efficiency of the Roan wind farm in Northern Norway was compared to a theoretical modeled installation of small-scale wind turbines on top of buildings within a 2km radius study zone in central Oslo. 2. 2. The Potential of Dissolved Air Flotation for PFAS Reduction in Norrvatten's Future Waterworks

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Kemiteknik

    Författare :Madeleine Vikström; [2023]
    Nyckelord :PFAS4; drinking water production; dissolved air flotation; granular activated carbon filter; sludge management; PFAS4; dricksvattenproduktion; flotation; granulärt aktivt kolfilter; slamhantering;

    Sammanfattning : Norrvatten är en av Sveriges största dricksvattenproducenter. Med ett ökande behov av en större produktionskapacitet och nya regleringar, planerar dem att förbättra sin reningsprocess. En aspekt som kräver omfattande undersökning är val av reningsmetod för att nå den nya gränsen från Livsmedelsverket för fyra PFAS kemikalier. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Investigating the influence of the tidal regime on harbour porpoise Phocoena phocoena distribution in Mount’s Bay, Cornwall

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Duncan Jones; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Geography; Geographical Information Systems; GIS; Habitat Modelling; Harbour Porpoise; MaxEnt; Tidal Processes; Conservation; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Investigating the influence of the tidal regime on harbour porpoise Phocoena phocoena distribution in Mount’s Bay, Cornwall Abstract Unintentional by-catch in fishing gear is a significant cause of mortality of harbour porpoises in UK waters. Understanding the spatial distribution of harbour porpoises at fine scales and how this changes over time is essential when trying to understand where these lethal interactions might occur. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Modification of combined cycle power plant to reduce CO2 footprint

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Skolan för industriell teknik och management (ITM)

    Författare :I Wayan Sudiasa; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Combined cycle; LNG; carbon capture; hydrogen blending.; Kombinerad cykel; LNG; kolavskiljning; väteblandning.;

    Sammanfattning : Worldwide concern on reducing global warming consequences has motivated the development of power generation technologies to move towards renewable and sustainable energy. The process takes time and currently, a significant percentage of the world’s electricity systems are driven by fossil fuels. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Lowering energy need and improving indoor climate - A case study of rural dwellings in Gammalsvenskby, Ukraine

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för arkitektur och byggd miljö; Lunds universitet/Avdelningen för Energi och byggnadsdesign

    Författare :Viktor Kauranen; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Gammalsvenskby; energy-efficient; indoor climate; rural buildings; renovation; Ukraine; Life cycle cost; Technology and Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : A vast majority of rural dwellings in Ukraine are inefficient from an energy perspective, with a major need for energy-efficient renovations. A lot of these buildings are also having problems with the indoor climate, with poor ventilation combined with indoor combustion of fuel which can cause negative health effects. LÄS MER
