Using otherness, creole language, and diaspora, this essay argued that The Expanse used three groups to demonstrate postcolonialism, showing that the Belters are the oppressed group and Earth oppressors.     Sammanfattning : This study examines the theme of hybridity in Charlotte Brontë’s novel Jane Eyre and Jordan Peele’s film Get Out. Both the narrative text in the novel and the script with visual elements of the film use the concept of hybridity through Gothic motifs: a mad non-white woman in the attic in Jane Eyre and a psychological place in Get Out, where members of a white family hypnotise black people in order to exploit their physical capabilities.     Sammanfattning : The present thesis focuses on how Edouard Glissant uses othering as a tool while constructing an Antillean identity in two of his works, La Lézarde and La case du commandeur. The proposed identity is more suitable for the confusing reality lived by the Antillean people, consisting of the intertwining of a French culture on the one hand and a creole and African culture on the other.     Sammanfattning : This thesis examines female gender nonconformity as a behaviour in response to Victorian patriarchal oppression in the female protagonist of Charlotte Brönte's bildungsroman Jane Eyre. Gender nonconforming behaviour is depicted as behaviour that does not obey gender roles or expectations, linking the responsive quality of such behaviours to the traits of hegemonic masculinity exerted by the male characters who represent and perpetuate a patriarchal system: St John Rivers and Edward Rochester.
