   Sammanfattning : A hypertest-algorithm, the BUMPHUNTER, is introduced briefly and tested by probing events containing muons in 8 TeV datasets from the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN against a background spectrum created by selecting muons from different collisions. The hypertest looked for excesses of same sign di-muon pairs which could indicate the existence of a Majorana neutrino. LÄS MER

   Sammanfattning : In this thesis an optimization of a previously performed inclusive search for beyond Standard Model Physics in same-sign di-lepton final states is performed, but tuned for a doubly-charged Higgs boson decaying to same-sign di-muons. The doubly-charged Higgs boson is a proposed fundamental particle whose existence would provide evidence for theoretical extensions of the Standard Model (SM) of particle physics. LÄS MER
