    Sammanfattning : Bakgrund: Ätstörningar är en av de tio vanligaste psykiska sjukdomarna i befolkningen och delas in i Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Ätstörning Utan Närmare Specifikation och Hetsätningsstörning och diagnotiseras med hjälp av Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. Förekomsten av ätstörningar är högre bland atleter än i normalbefolkningen och är vanligast i estetiska- uthållighets- samt viktklassidrotter men förekommer även i idrotter utan uttalade krav på låg kroppsvikt.
