Kandidat-uppsats, Karlstads universitetSammanfattning : The purpose of this essay is to explore how the interplay between gender and double consciousness is used as a rhetorical device in Harriet Jacobs’ autobiographical narrative “Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl” (1861). Through a feminist theoretical lens and the concept of double consciousness I provide examples from the text illustrating Jacobs’ strategic use of different narrative techniques to convey her abolitionist message. 2. Disrupting Dominant Discourses: : Hybridity in Jane Eyre and Get Out
Kandidat-uppsats, Högskolan i Halmstad/Akademin för lärande, humaniora och samhälleSammanfattning : This study examines the theme of hybridity in Charlotte Brontë’s novel Jane Eyre and Jordan Peele’s film Get Out. Both the narrative text in the novel and the script with visual elements of the film use the concept of hybridity through Gothic motifs: a mad non-white woman in the attic in Jane Eyre and a psychological place in Get Out, where members of a white family hypnotise black people in order to exploit their physical capabilities. Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Litteraturvetenskapliga institutionenSammanfattning : The purpose of this master’s thesis is to examine the relationship between mothers and sons in Mustafa Can’s Tätt intill dagarna: Berättelsen om min mor (Close to the days: The story of my mother) from 2006, Theodor Kallifatides’ Mödrar och söner (Mothers and sons) from 2007 and Ocean Vuong’s On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous from 2019. These novels examine themes of migration and motherhood through the perspective of the sons, who all write semi-autobiographically about their mothers. LÄS MER

5. Strengthening Women’s Decision-Making Power: Examining Local Participation in Forest and Pasture Users’ Associations in Albania
Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för kulturgeografi och ekonomisk geografi; Lunds universitet/LUMID International Master programme in applied International Development and ManagementSammanfattning : Efforts to empower Albanian women and strengthen their participation in decision-making in local Forest and Pasture Users’ Associations (FPUAs) have been undertaken by the Environmental Services Project, including implementing the Gender Action Plan. The phenomenon of women’s agency and participation in decision-making in this local setting is examined in this study by answering the following: (I) Who currently holds the majority of decision-making power in FPUAs and why? (II) What factors determine women’s participation and decision-making power in FPUAs? (III) How can women’s participation in and influence on decision-making in FPUAs be enhanced? The data was collected through semi-structured interviews with project implementers and an online survey with FPUA members. LÄS MER
