    Sammanfattning : Historiskt sett har kalven varit av liten ekonomisk betydelse inom mjölkproduktionen i Sverige och har tillåtits att dia endast en kortare tid efter födseln, för att därefter skiljas från kon. En viktig bidragande anledning till detta är troligtvis att kalvar som fått gå några dygn tillsammans med kon uppvisar fler stressrelaterade beteenden vid separationen än kalvar som separeras från kon direkt efter födseln.
