  1. 1. EPR as a mechanism for integrating the informal sector: An evaluation of post-consumer PET waste management in South Africa

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Internationella miljöinstitutet

    Författare :Joyce Ojino; [2016]
    Nyckelord :Extended Producer Responsibility; informal sector; integration; inclusion; waste management; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis evaluates the performance of an EPR programme for post-consumer PET waste management by PET recycling company (PETCO) in South Africa. It analyses waste management policies of South Africa that are relevant to EPR. Using a set of evaluative tools, the thesis reveals areas for improvement in the EPR scheme. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Packaging Waste in Remote Communities: Opportunities and Challenges: A Case Study for Tefé, Amazon

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Internationella miljöinstitutet

    Författare :Laura Fostinone; [2016]
    Nyckelord :packaging waste; remote communities; waste management; EPR Programmes; remote areas in the Amazon; Tefé; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Growing amounts of waste generation in remote areas without proper waste management systems is a problem to human health and the environment. The Amazon holds the biggest freshwater resources in the world, is a biodiversity hotspot and its communities are placed in distances that can take days by boat to be reached. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Extended Producer Responsibility and Design Change

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Internationella miljöinstitutet

    Författare :Chihiro Sawaki; [2011]
    Nyckelord :design for environment DfE ; Extended Producer Responsibility EPR ; large home appliances; PCs; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) aims to develop end-of-life product systems and reduce environmental impacts of product across entire life cycle. The empirical study of how EPR programmes have influenced design change is still few especially for complex and durable products such as EEE. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Exploring the potential for an EPR programme for EEE in Belarus Factors influencing the implementation of an EPR programme for EEE

    Magister-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Internationella miljöinstitutet

    Författare :Katsiaryna Paulavets; [2006]
    Nyckelord :Waste Elctrical and Electronic Equipment WEEE ; Extended Producer Responsability EPR ; influence and success factors; Belarus; Lithuania; Sweden; Environmental studies; Miljöstudier; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) causes serious environmental impact in its end-of-life phase and it is the largest known source of heavy metals and organic pollutants in municipal waste. Moreover, waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) containes valuable components that if recycled and reused, could reduce the use of virgin materials. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Exploring the Environmental Effectiveness of Extended Producer Responsibility Programmes An analysis of approaches to collective and individual responsibility for WEEE management in Sweden and the UK

    Magister-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Internationella miljöinstitutet

    Författare :Maria Kollberg; [2003]
    Nyckelord :WEEE; EPR programmes; individual producer responsibility; collective producer responsibility; Environmental studies; Miljöstudier; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : The purpose of this work is to enhance the understanding of how different approaches regarding the implementation of EPR programmes may contribute to environmental improvements. In order to meet this purpose, the following research question is explored: How may different approaches to collective and individual producer responsibility, implemented and/or envisioned by stakeholders, contribute to the achievement of the environmental objectives of EPR programmes? This study explores how EPR programmes for WEEE are implemented in Sweden and the UK, and how different stakeholders approach collective and individual producer responsibility. LÄS MER
