   Sammanfattning : This essay examines how field recordings have been used in composition historically, and how three contemporary composers are using field recording as an element in their compositional practice. With focus on the relationship between detailed listening to sonic environments, inspiration and musical composition and the correlation between these aspects, this essay investigates a few examples of current artistic practices wherein field recording has been used as an integral part of the artistic process.
