  1. 1. Electrodynamic field at spatial infinity

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Fysik

    Författare :Jakob Myhrman; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Spatial infinity; Conformal rescaling; Minkowski space; Penrose Diagram; Einstein universe; Newman-Penrose formalism; Sigma-process; Resolution of singularities; Maxwell s equations; Cylinder at spatial infinity; Rumslig oändlighet; Konform omskalning; Minkowski rummet; Penrose Diagram; Einsteins universum; Newman-Penrose formalismen; Sigma-processen; Singularitetupplösning; Maxwells ekvationer; Cylindern vid rumslig oändlighet;

    Sammanfattning : The treatment of spatial infinity is one of the remaining major open problems in the theory of isolated self-gravitating systems. Especially when one wants to model scattering of gravitational radiation in spacetime. In this thesis the conformal theory is used to study simple electromagnetic fields, close to spatial infinity. 2. 2. Closed Timelike Curves in Exact Solutions

    Kandidat-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Teoretisk fysik

    Författare :Timea Vitos; [2017]
    Nyckelord :closed timelike curves; time travel; Gödel-type universe; cosmic strings; quantum mechanics and closed timelike curves;

    Sammanfattning : This project aims to study general relativity to the extent to understand the occurrence and behaviors of closed timelike curves (CTCs) in several exact solutions of Einstein’s field equations. The rotating black hole solution, the Gödel universe and the cosmic string solutions are studied in detail to show how CTCs arise in these spacetimes. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Gravitational Wave Interaction in a Vlasov Plasma

    Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, Institutionen för fysik

    Författare :Oskar Janson; [2013]
    Nyckelord :gravitational waves; general relativity; plasma; physics; vlasov;

    Sammanfattning : Gravitational waves are predicted by Einstein’s general theory of relativity and have so far only been indirectly detected. The first direct detection should however only be a matter of time, with observatories across the world working hard to detect them. LÄS MER
