  1. 1. Flood mitigation at catchment scale: assessing the effectiveness of constructed wetlands

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Hållbar utveckling, miljövetenskap och teknik

    Författare :Elin Ekström; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Nature-based solutions; wetlands; catchment; performance indicators; flood management; hydrological modeling; SWAT; Naturbaserade lösningar; våtmarker; avrinningsområde; nyckelindikatorer; översvämningshantering; hydrologisk modellering; SWAT;

    Sammanfattning : Considering the potential for natural wetlands to store and retain water in the landscape,restored and constructed wetlands are increasingly implemented as Nature‐BasedSolutions (NBS) to mitigate downstream flooding. However, there is a frequent lack ofknowledge of the performance of NBS, and particularly wetlands, and how to best selectperformance indicators to measure their effectiveness. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Methane tree stem flux over the course of the spring flood : Spatial and temporal effects in a boreal riparian zone

    Kandidat-uppsats, Umeå universitet/Institutionen för ekologi, miljö och geovetenskap

    Författare :Elin Berg; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Methane; tree stem flux; boreal forest; riparian zones; spring flood;

    Sammanfattning : Methane (CH4) tree stem-atmosphere flux is viewed as a new frontier in the global carbon cycle and may be of great importance. The effect on flux from different tree species, forest ecosystems and seasons is still uncertain. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Is Early L2 Reading of Children’s Literature a Good Idea? : How the attitudes to reading English children’s literature affect book access and teacher-library collaboration in two Swedish primary schools

    Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, Malmö universitet/Fakulteten för lärande och samhälle (LS)

    Författare :Jennifer Oldby; Elin Rushworth; [2021]
    Nyckelord :EFL; ESL; English children’s literature; teacher attitudes; teacher-library collaboration; book access; early L2 reading; Extensive Reading; Book Flood; young language learners; primary school;

    Sammanfattning : This case study investigates how teachers’ and school librarians’ attitudes towards L2 reading in years 1-4, as well as their perceived book access and teacher-library collaboration, influence the use and reading of English children’s literature in two Swedish primary schools. This study is motivated by the importance the English language has in Sweden for higher education, the previous research proving powerful language benefits of extensive L2 reading, as well as the recent proposition to strengthen the school library’s role in Sweden. 4. 4. Skyfallsanalys i urban miljö : En komparativ studie mellan MIKE 21 och MIKE FLOOD

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Hållbar utveckling, miljövetenskap och teknik

    Författare :Elin Andersson; [2020]
    Nyckelord :1D-2D modell; 2D modell; dagvattenledningsnät; skyfallskartering;

    Sammanfattning : Redan idag har många kommuner i Sverige drabbats av skyfall och ett förändrande klimat indikerar att skyfall kommer bli vanligare. Översvämningar till följd av skyfall kan ge konsekvenser som skador på hus, vägar och även utgöra fara för människors hälsa. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Methods for Coastal Flooding Risk Assessments : An Application in Iceland

    Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Författare :Guðrún Elín Jóhannsdóttir; [2019]
    Nyckelord :Coastal flooding; sea level; sea level rise; risk assessment; hazard; Havsöversvämning; havsnivå; havsnivåhöjning; riskbedömning; fara;

    Sammanfattning : Flood risk increases with rising sea levels and coastal settlements need to adapt to this increasing risk. For that, hazard and risk assessments are an important step. Coastal floods have caused problems in Iceland in the past and are thought to do so in the future as well. LÄS MER
