    Sammanfattning : In this master thesis I am integrating ideas on the mobilisation of political engagement with the concept of deliberative democracy to enhance the practical applicability of public deliberation in contexts such as environmental advocacy campaigns. I explore the degree to which environmental campaigns of three German environmental NGOs use public deliberation in order to bring about a more active citizenship and produce political pressure for progressive policy change.     Sammanfattning : This article compares the study areas of environmental communication delineated by Cox (2007) with interview results of seven civil servants and three politicians engaged in environmental policies and their implementation in the municipality of Växjö, Sweden.
