The thesis draws on public acceptance theory and has been conducted as a two-step Case Study, namely, the deployment of renewable energy facilities in La Rioja, a Spanish region wherein two waves of wind and solar energy plants – during the 2000s and the 2020s – have enjoyed very different degrees of public support. The effects of the organization's characteristics on policy positions were examined based on findings of previous studies suggesting distinct factors determine the decision to lobby and the success of such actions.
