  1. 1. Secrets of the Seeds : exploring the relationship between seed morphology and seed quality in Lepidium campestre, a novel oil crop for Northern Sweden

    Kandidat-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Plant Breeding (from 130101)

    Författare :Ludvig Pettersson Landgren; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Lepidium campestre; field cress; oil crop; plant breeding; domestication; seed morphology; seed colour; seed analysis; Northern Sweden; glucosinolate;

    Sammanfattning : This study set out to explore relationships between seed morphology and qualitative traits in field cress, Lepidium campestre, with the goal of assisting the breeding process of this crop under domestication. A collection of seeds of L. campestre as well as related species was analysed for weight and size using a MARViN seed analyser. LÄS MER

  2. 2. INDIVIDUAL TRAIT MATCHING OF BUMBLEBEES (BOMBUS) AND FLOWERS ALONG AN ENVIRONMENTAL GRADIENT

    Master-uppsats, Umeå universitet/Institutionen för ekologi, miljö och geovetenskap

    Författare :Johan Per Michael Svedin; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Arctic climate change; Bombus; Flower morphology; Plant-pollinator trait-matching;

    Sammanfattning : Insect pollinators serve a critical role in maintaining plant biodiversity and are especially susceptible to changes within their environment. To study the possible effects of seasonal variation in temperature, as well as climatic temperature increase on the plant-pollinator community, the relationship between bumblebee and flowering plant traits along an elevational gradient, representing warming-induced changes in plant community, were examined. 4. 4. Växtförädlingsmål för framtida äppelförädling ur förädlares och odlares perspektiv

    Kandidat-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Plant Breeding (from 130101)

    Författare :Josefine Monell; [2021]
    Nyckelord :växtförädling; äpple; Malus;

    Sammanfattning : Äpplen utgör den mest odlade frukten i Sverige och det finns en lång tradition av att producera äpple i hela Norden. För att kunna säkerställa en fortsatt produktion även i framtiden krävs en inhemsk förädling för att framställa nya sorter som kan möta framtidens utmaningar med ett förändrat klimat, effektivare lagring och förändrade preferenser från slutkonsumenten. 5. 5. Investigating germplasm collection and development potential of organic cowpea in Portugal

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Plant Breeding (from 130101)

    Författare :Dylan Wallman; [2017]
    Nyckelord :blackeyed peas; climate change; cowpea; feijão-frade; intercropping; legumes; organic agriculture; organic plant breeding; sesquipedalis; sole cropping; sustainability; Vigna unguiculata;

    Sammanfattning : Initial trials were conducted in Idanha-a-Nova, Portugal together with a literature review with the aim to investigate the development potential of an organic plant breeding and seed company’s (Sementes Vivas) cowpea germplasm collection in relation to organic agriculture, sustainable development, and plant breeding. This work discusses different development directions such as intercropping, sole cropping and home gardens as well as organic plant breeding of the cowpea crop. LÄS MER
