  1. 1. A Structural Analysis of the Fracture Sets in Gothenburg, Sweden: A Remote Sensing and Manual Lineament Approach

    Master-uppsats, Göteborgs universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Författare :Jacek Krysik; [2023-05-22]
    Nyckelord :Remote sensing; Manual lineament analysis; Fractal analysis; Structural; Regional geology; LiDAR; Gothenburg region;

    Sammanfattning : The fracture-valley landscape within the Gothenburg region was analysed based on LiDAR-derived hillshade images as well as several sources of orthomosaics. Using a manual lineament interpretation approach and complimented with an objective fractal analysis software (FROST), the objective of the study was to characterise the regional fracture sets as well as attempt to link the sets to the complex regional geological history. 2. 2. Fractal and entropy analysis of traditional and modernist building facades in street-level view : the case of Sweden’s growing cities

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Landscape Architecture, Planning and Management (from 130101)

    Författare :Alexis Ken Cartajenas; [2023]
    Nyckelord :fractal dimension; information entropy; street-level view; building façade; preference matrix;

    Sammanfattning : This study presents a quantitative analysis of traditional and modernist building facades in urban environments, focusing on the assessment of their complexity and coherence. Fractal and entropy analysis techniques were employed to objectively evaluate the differences between the two architectural styles within the preference matrix framework. LÄS MER

  3. 3. An empirical study on measuring the degree of life in cities

    Magister-uppsats, Högskolan i Gävle/Samhällsbyggnad

    Författare :Chris de Rijke; [2020]
    Nyckelord :Head tail breaks; scaling; living structure; wholeness; natural streets; urban morphology;

    Sammanfattning : Our direct environment affects our lives directly. Christopher Alexander saw that we are able to feel or see if an object or structure is natural through the characteristics of them. He also saw that we generally feel better near these living, natural structures as it more closely resembles ourselves. LÄS MER

  4. 4. How to Avoid Bankruptcy?: Monte Carlo Simulation of Three Financial Markets, using the Multifractal Model of Asset Returns

    D-uppsats, Handelshögskolan i Stockholm/Institutionen för finansiell ekonomi

    Författare :Rostislav Sibirtsev; [2019]
    Nyckelord :Multifractal Model of Asset Returns MMAR ; Simulation; Fractal; Kurtosis; Dependence;

    Sammanfattning : This paper has been an effort to apply fractal mathematics to understanding the general behaviour of financial markets. Fractals are special shapes that look similar at various scales. The specific model used is called the Multifractal Model of Asset Returns (MMAR) - the first ever model used for multifractal financial analysis. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Fractal Sets: Dynamical, Dimensional and Topological Properties

    Kandidat-uppsats, KTH/Skolan för teknikvetenskap (SCI)

    Författare :Nancy Wang; [2018]
    Nyckelord :logistic function; Cantor set; generalised Cantor Set; fat Cantor set; fractals; fractal dimension; von Koch snowflake; Sierpinski arrowhead curve; Sierpinski carpet; Menger sponge; topological dimension; box dimension; exterior measure; Hausdorff measure; Hausdorff dimension; logistisk funktion; Cantormängd; fet Cantormängd; generaliserade Cantormängd; fraktaler‚; bråktalsdimension; Kochsnöfling; Sierpinskismatta; Sierpinskispilspetskurva; Mengers tvättsvamp; topologiska dimension; lådräkningsdimension; yttre mått; Hausdorffmått; Hausdorffdimension;

    Sammanfattning : Fractals is a relatively new mathematical topic which received thorough treatment only starting with 1960's. Fractals can be observed everywhere in nature and in day-to-day life. To give a few examples, common fractals are the spiral cactus, the romanesco broccoli, human brain and the outline of the Swedish map. LÄS MER
