  1. 1. Potassium in the Galactic Bulge - as traced by microlensed dwarf & sub-giant stars

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Astrofysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Författare :Lukas Jönsson; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Nucleosynthesis; Galactic Bulge; Potassium; Non-Local-Thermal-Equilibrium; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : During this report the potassium (K) trend in the Galactic Bulge, with respect to metallicity and various α-elements, has been computed and evaluated by a method of line synthesis on the 7698.96 ̊A KI line (7699 KI), where Non-Local-Thermal-Equilibrium (NLTE) effects have been considered. 2. 2. Non-Diffractive Nuclear Excitations In Angantyr

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation

    Författare :Carl Rosenkvist; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Heavy-ion; non-diffractive; nuclear excitation; secondary interactions; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : To better understand collectivity in high energy physics, the heavy-ion collision model Angantyr was developed to be included in the event generator Pythia. In this model, proton-proton collision phenomenology is extrapolated to heavy-ion collisions without assuming a thermal plasma for particle production. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Finding stars that are likely to be from accreted satellite galaxies

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Astrofysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Författare :Helena Cronstedt; [2023]
    Nyckelord :galaxy mergers; merger debris; velocity space; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : The Milky Way galaxy has through its lifetime merged with several smaller galaxies in its surroundings. Merger events like these play an important role in the formation of galaxies and are therefore of great interest to better our understanding of galaxy formation. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Detecting Transiting Exoplanets in Crowded Fields

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Astronomi - Genomgår omorganisation

    Författare :Eddie Larsson; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Transit method; Globular cluster; crowded environments; exoplanets; transiting exoplanets; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : The first planet orbiting a main-sequence star was discovered in 1995. Since then more than 4000 additional exoplanets have been discovered. This is a rapidly evolving field in astrophysics. One of the most common ways to detect an exoplanet is through transit, as the brightness of the host star decreases. LÄS MER

  5. 5. The Metallicity Structure of the Milky Way Halo II : Characterising the distant halo substructure

    Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Observationell astrofysik

    Författare :Amanda Byström; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Milky Way; Galactic archaeology; halo; photometric metallicities; stellar catalogue; Gaia-Enceladus-Sausage; Sagittarius; Pristine survey; metallicity; Gaia mission;

    Sammanfattning : The Milky Way galaxy, like all spiral galaxies, is surrounded by a roughly spherical distribution of stars called the halo. The halo was largely formed when the galaxy merged with smaller galaxies. LÄS MER
