  1. 1. HIGH-FREQUENCY OSCILLATIONS IN A MOUSE MODEL OF PARKINSON’S DISEASE

    Kandidat-uppsats, Umeå universitet/Institutionen för psykologi

    Författare :Love Zachrisson; [2020]
    Nyckelord :6-OHDA; Parkinson s Disease; Basal Ganglia; LID; Gamma oscillation; 80Hz; HFO; Multichannel electrode array; Parkinsons sjukdom; 6-OHDA; LID; HFO; Gamma oscillering; 80Hz; Basala Ganglierna; Elektrodimplantat;

    Sammanfattning : Dopamine replacement therapy is the main method of treating Parkinson’s Disease (PD), however over time this treatment causes increasingly abnormal, involuntary movements. This symptom, known as Levodopa-Induced-Dyskinesia (LID) is associated with aberrant, high frequency oscillations (HFOs) in the motor cortex and basal ganglia, as demonstrated with implanted electrodes in human Parkinson’s patients as well as in a rat model of Parkinson’s Disease. 2. 2. Study of neural correlates of attention in mice with spectro-spatio-temporal approaches

    Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, KTH/Skolan för datavetenskap och kommunikation (CSC)

    Författare :Cantin Ortiz; [2018]
    Nyckelord :gamma; bursts; neuroscience; attention; mice; LFP; gamma bursts; local field potential; phase randomization; cognition; cognitive process; modulation; spike; neuron; prefrontal cortex; PFC; pre-frontal; tetrode; filtering; Hilbert transform; recordings; oscillation; gamma band;

    Sammanfattning : While signatures of attention can be observed in widespread areas within and outside of cortex, the control of attention is thought to be regulated by higher cognitive brain areas, such as the prefrontal cortex. In their recent study on mice Kim et al. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Neural Entrainment to Speech Analyzed with EEG : A Review of Contemporary Theories about the Underlying Mechanisms of Speech Processing

    Kandidat-uppsats, Linköpings universitet/Institutionen för datavetenskap

    Författare :Richard Larsson; [2017]
    Nyckelord :EEG; neural entrainment; cortical entrainment; neural oscillation; cortical oscillation; speech;

    Sammanfattning : Neural entrainment quite recently became considered an important mechanism used by the brain to process stimuli with periodic qualities, such as the frequency and duration time of signals reaching sensory organs. An increasing amount of data strongly implies that the brain might be using neural entrainment as a mechanism to either directly process speech and/or to facilitate speech interpretation. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Catch the dream Wave : Propagation of Cortical Slow Oscillation to the Striatum in anaesthetised mice

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Beräkningsbiologi, CB

    Författare :Tiago Ferreira; [2014]
    Nyckelord :Cortex; Striatum; anaesthesia; slow oscillation; spontaneous activity; ketamine; in vivo; up states; wavelet; MUA; high-gamma range; MSNs;

    Sammanfattning : Under anaesthesia or in deep sleep, different parts of the brain have a distinctive slow oscillatory activity, characterised by states of high membrane potential and intensive spiking activity, the Up-states; followed by hyperpolarisation and quiescence, the Down-states. This activity has been previously described in vitro and in vivo in the cortex and the striatum, across several species. LÄS MER
