    Sammanfattning : The intention with this thesis is to investigate a dimer in a spin chain. Inorder to do that, a model from Z2-gauge theory is taken as the theoretical motivation to construct a discrete lattice with Ising spin properties.     Sammanfattning : The phenomenological success of the Standard Model (SM), and its unification of the electromagnetic and weak forces has inspired the search for a Grand Unified Theory (GUT), that dynamically reduces to the SM at low energies. In this work, we consider one such GUT, based on the trinification model [SU(3)]³ with an additional local SU(2) family symmetry, that is then broken directly to the gauge symmetry group of the SM.     Sammanfattning : Infrared divergences arising in theories with massless gauge bosons have been shown to cancel in scattering amplitudes when using dressed states constructed from the Faddeev- Kulish approach to the asymptotic states. It has been established that these states are closely related to asymptotic symmetries of the theory, that is, non-vanishing gauge trans- formations at the asymptotic boundary. LÄS MER
