  1. 1. Hunting the hunters - Evaluating a new method of Geographic Profiling

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Statsvetenskapliga institutionen

    Författare :Max Pröckl; [2024]
    Nyckelord :rgeoprofile; crimestat; journey-to-crime; geographic profiling; qgis; geographical profiling; Örebromannen; Kim Rossmo; David Canter; Ned Levine.; Law and Political Science;

    Sammanfattning : Geographic Profiling (GP) may be used when searching for an unknown offender by applying mathematical algorithms to geographical information. This thesis aimed to contribute to improvement of the efficiacy of GP’s produced by law enforcement by evaluating a the new Spaulding/Morris Centrographic (SMC)-method of GP that claims to counteract two of the main difficulties when constructing a GP in a real world investigation: 1. 2. 2. Station-level demand prediction in bike-sharing systems through machine learning and deep learning methods

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Nikolaos Staikos; [2024]
    Nyckelord :Physical Geography; Ecosystem Analysis; Bike-sharing demand; Machine learning; Deep learning; Spatial regression; Graph Convolutional Neural Network; Multiple Linear Regression; Multilayer Perceptron Regressor; Support Vector Machine; Random Forest Regressor; Urban environment; Micro-mobility; Station planning; Geomatics; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Public Bike-Sharing systems have been employed in many cities around the globe. Shared bikes are an efficient and convenient means of transportation in advanced societies. Nonetheless, station planning and local bike-sharing network effectiveness can be challenging. LÄS MER

  3. 3. The accuracy of road distances in the Antonine itinerary

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Antikens kultur och samhällsliv

    Författare :Tomas Öberg; [2023]
    Nyckelord :History and Archaeology;

    Sammanfattning : The Antonine itinerary was compiled in the early fourth century CE and is a key source to our know¬¬ledge about ancient geography and the Roman road system. However, the major research work dates more than 100 years back in time and few studies have been focussed on its overall reliability. LÄS MER

  4. 4. The Role of Education in Shaping Migration Decisions: An Analysis of the Higher Education Reform of 1977 in Sweden

    Master-uppsats, Jönköping University/IHH, Nationalekonomi

    Författare :Patrick Andersson; [2023]
    Nyckelord :migration; educational reforms; geography; causal effect; difference in differences;

    Sammanfattning : This study examines whether or not Sweden’s education reform in 1977, which established new university colleges in selected urban municipalities, had a spillover effect on people’s migration decisions toward rural municipalities and, if so, how that effect varied across demographic groups. To test this, a difference-in-differences method with a fixed effect setting is used in combination with Coarsened Exact Matching to create the best-matched control group. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Identifiering och validering av potentiella översvämningsriskområden med hjälp av GIS-baserad multikriterieanalys

    M1-uppsats, Karlstads universitet/Institutionen för miljö- och livsvetenskaper (from 2013)

    Författare :Bahaa Thabet; [2023]
    Nyckelord :GIS; MKA; AHP; Flood risk; Klarälven; Vänern; Urban; GIS; MKA; AHP; Översvämningsrisk; Klarälven; Vänern; Urban;

    Sammanfattning : Floods are natural disasters that often have significant socio-economic consequences. Urban areas with uncontrolled urban development, rapid population growth, an unregulated municipal system and an unplanned change in land use belong to the very sensitive areas where floods cause devastating economic and social losses.
