  1. 1. Modelling the effects of climate change on ice dynamics at Kangerlussuaq Glacier, Greenland

    Master-uppsats, Stockholms universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi

    Författare :Jamie Barnett; [2021]
    Nyckelord :Glacier; Greenland; Ice Sheet; Outlet; Discharge; Sea level; Kangerlussuaq; calving; ice mélange; melt; retreat;

    Sammanfattning : A consequence of climate change is rising global sea levels, predicted to bring increased socio-economic and environmental impacts to coastal communities. The Greenland Ice Sheet has become a prominent contributor to rising sea levels, a consequence of the Arctic warming at twice the rate of the global average. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Implications of a rapidly thinning ice-margin for annual moraine formation at Gornergletscher, Switzerland

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Författare :Lukas Rettig; [2020]
    Nyckelord :Recessional moraines; Ice-marginal processes; Glacier retreat; Glacial geomorphology; Glacial sedimentology; Alpine glaciers; Swiss Alps; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : This study examines genetic processes and climatological significance of annual moraine formation in the foreland of Gornergletscher, a large alpine-valley glacier located in the southern Swiss Alps. A particular focus is set on moraine ridges that have been forming between 2007 and 2019, a period when the glacier has been subject to accelerated retreat and pronounced frontal thinning. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Effects of snow-free season, temperature and radiation variations on the retreat of Linné glacier, Svalbard

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Juliano Hanna; [2020]
    Nyckelord :Glacier; Arctic; Svalbard; climate change; GIS; drone; air temperature and solar radiation; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Linné glacier has retreated approximately 1.8 km since 1936 and 1 km between 1995 and 2019. Linné glacier is following the same trend as other glaciers around Svalbard. Linné glacier is a well-monitored glacier with a time series of air temperature, incoming solar radiation and snow height data since 2003. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Processes of lateral moraine formation at a debris-covered glacier, Suldenferner (Vedretta di Solda), Italy

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Författare :Monika Rabanser; [2019]
    Nyckelord :Lateral moraines; Moraine genesis; Moraine stability; Debris-covered glaciers; Clast shape; Alps; Sedimentology; Glacier fluctuations; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Lateral moraines are key features of glacial landscapes in high-alpine mountain areas. Research on lateral moraine formation is mostly limited to clean-ice glaciers; lateral moraine formation at the margins of debris-covered glaciers is currently poorly understood in an Alpine and sedimentological context. 5. 5. Sedimentology and Catchment Processes of Lake Bolterskaret, Svalbard

    Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Luft-, vatten- och landskapslära

    Författare :Matilda Elise Ruth Svensson; [2018]
    Nyckelord :Lacustrine sedimentation; Bolterskaret; late Holocene; Climate change; Varves;

    Sammanfattning : Lacustrine sediments are important archives of landscape and climate evolution. Varved sediments offer a high-resolution archive enabling studies on annual and seasonal scale. Understanding the alteration of sedimentation in glacial lakes under a changing climate is important for paleoclimate reconstructions. LÄS MER
