   Sammanfattning : The purpose of this paper is to establish the level of interest in history amongst a sample of Swedish 15 year olds, how it is expressed in their daily lives and the pattern of their con-sumption within popular culture. It also aims to find out to what extent the pupils’ interest in history and use of history in their daily activities outside school has any impact on their in-terest in history as a school subject and whether or not it affects their grades in that particu-lar subject.
