    Sammanfattning : This master’s thesis studies the functions of the genres in Swedish author Mikael Niemi’s novel To Cook a Bear (2017). The plot is set in Kengis in 1852 and is told through two protagonists: the priest and Jussi Sieppinen. The priest is a fictionalization of the priest, botanist, and revivalist preacher Lars Levi Laestadius. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : This thesis explores different genres and modes of writing in short stories of the contemporary Indian author Uday Prakash, such as magical realism, the fantastic, regionalism, postcolonial and postmodern writing. It poses the question: “In which literary genre should Uday Prakash’s writings best be categorised?” The study is based on a reading of Prakash’s collection, 10 Pratinidhi kahāniyāṃ – Ten Representative Stories, consisting of ten stories of the author’s own choice.     Sammanfattning : The purpose of this essay was to conduct a survey of the earliest workers at the Sandviken ironworks in Gävleborgs county, Sweden, during the period of 1863-1870 in order to determine their places of birth or origin. The study is primarily based around four books and one article which describe historiographic terms and methods, two books covering the processes behind industrialization and urbanization in the 19th century by historian Lars Nilsson and Welsh historian John Elliot.
