For a country grappling with broken infrastructure and fragile healthcare systems due to a 14-year-long civil war, the Ebola crisis in Liberia was an unprecedented disaster as evidenced by 10,672 recorded cases and 4,808 reported fatalities between 2014 and 2016. The study is based on a literature review in which themes of concern are first identified in theoretical literature followed by an examination of empirical literature (here termed ‘refugee-including literature’) to see if the concerns are shared.
