  1. 1. DIFFERENTIAL OUTCOME TRAINING AND HUMANOID ROBOT FEEDBACK ON A VISUOSPATIAL GAMIFIED TASK: An experimental study investigating learning, affective social engagement cues and cognitive learning strategies

    Kandidat-uppsats, Institutionen för tillämpad informationsteknologi

    Författare :Alva Markelius; Sofia Sjöberg; [2023-02-01]
    Nyckelord :Human-robot interaction; gamified memory task; dementia; differential outcome theory; Furhat; engagement; digitalised treatments; robot assistance;

    Sammanfattning : By combining Differential Outcome Training (DOT), the usage of unique stimulus-response pairings, and feedback from a humanoid simulated robot (SDK) this study aims to improve learning performance of subjects on a visuospatial gamified memory task. This is achieved by using the SDK as an interface for an algorithm that provides audiovisual, reinforcing feedback promoting engangement in a new dyadic setup for a gamified task. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Human and Robot Narrator: How Gestures Affect Comprehension and Recollection

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Kognitionsvetenskap

    Författare :Johannes Rosenfrost; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Cognitive Science; Cognition; Embodiment; Humanoid Robots; Social Robots; HRI; Human-Robot-Interaction; Social Interaction; Robotics; Linguistics; Communication; Multimodality; Non-verbal; Gestures; Narration; Comprehension; Recollection; Social Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis investigated if a human or a robot narrator affected listeners’ comprehension and memory recollection similarly in a narrative story. 103 participants (MeanAge = 35) were recruited to an online experiment to investigate if gestures affected the participants’ narrative comprehension and recollection more than a narrator that did not produce gestures. 3. 3. Hur upplevs en humanoid som servicepersonal i en bilhall? : En studie som undersöker hur kunder i en bilhall upplever en humanoid som anställd med hänsyn till antropomorfism och uncanny valley

    Kandidat-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för informatik och media

    Författare :Eric Remnebäck; Nils Blomgren; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Anthropomorphism; car dealership; human characteristics; humanoid; service staff and uncanny valley.; Antropomorfism; bilhall; humanoid; mänskliga egenskaper; servicepersonal och uncanny valley.;

    Sammanfattning : Robots are constantly evolving, from Da Vinci's first robot to humanoids that exist today and are used in various industries. This study examines how a humanoid is perceived as service staff in a car dealership and this was done through a qualitative case study where semi-structured interviews and on-site observations were combined. 4. 4. Ambivalent encounters : A feminist exploration of human and feminised AI humanoid relations

    Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Centrum för genusvetenskap

    Författare :Sara Margret Sigurdardottir; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Artificial intelligence; robot embodiment; Klara and the Sun; artist robot; sex robots; affect; human-machine relations;

    Sammanfattning : Machines encoded with artificial intelligence (AI) are increasingly having influence in human social realms. Rapid technological advances have propelled encounters between humans and embodied AI humanoids from a subject of science fiction to a real-world phenomenon. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Behind Every Social Robot Finds itself a Community of Developers: A socio-legal exploration on developers of humanoid social robots with a focus on the context of depression diagnosis and its embedded gender norms.

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Rättssociologiska institutionen

    Författare :Laetitia Tanqueray; [2021]
    Nyckelord :Socially Assistive Robots; HRI; Sociology of Law; Depression Diagnosis; Gender norms; Social Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : The rise in new digital technology is bringing with it new ethical questions around how we, as a society, can trust them. However, what if the question was before the technology itself? What if the role of the developers was influencing the way those new technologies were being programmed? This thesis situates itself at the point of exploration, where developers of humanoid social robots look for ways to advance the human-robot interaction as a field as well as getting social robots commercial-ised.
