  1. 1. Assessing the Effectiveness of Urban Trees with Skeletal Soils in Flood Risk Mitigation

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Hållbar utveckling, miljövetenskap och teknik

    Författare :Molly Boberg; [2024]
    Nyckelord :Flood Management; Climate Adaptation; Nature-Based Solutions NBS ; Urban Trees; Skeletal Soil; Hydrologic Modelling; MIKE; Översvämningshantering; Klimatanpassning; Naturbaserade lösningar; Stadsträd; Skelettjord; Hydrologisk modellering; MIKE;

    Sammanfattning : With increased urbanization and climate change, heavy rainfall events and urban floods are becoming more frequent. To meet the demands for effective climate adaptation strategies and mitigation measures, Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) have received increased attention. LÄS MER

  2. 2. An evaluation of deep learning models for urban floods forecasting

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Geoinformatik

    Författare :Yang Mu; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Urban flooding forecasting; Convolutional neural networks; Deep learning; Physically-based simulation; Recurrent neural network; Stadsöversvämningsprognoser; konvolutionella neurala nätverk; djupinlärning; fysiskt baserad simulering; återkommande neurala nätverk;

    Sammanfattning : Flood forecasting maps are essential for rapid disaster response and risk management, yet the computational complexity of physically-based simulations hinders their application for efficient high-resolution spatial flood forecasting. To address the problems of high computational cost and long prediction time, this thesis proposes to develop deep learning neural networks based on a flood simulation dataset, and explore their potential use for flood prediction without learning hydrological modelling knowledge from scratch. 3. 3. Can blue-green infrastructure aid climate change adaptation by preventing flooding?

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Isabell Plars; [2020]
    Nyckelord :Pluvial flooding; Climate change adaptation; Green solutions; Blue-green infrastructure; BGI; Green Infrastructure; Hydrological modelling; TFM-DYN; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : The risk of pluvial flooding is going to increase as climate change causes an increase in intense precipitation along with urbanisation leading to an increase in impermeable surfaces. In the last decade, cities such as Malmö and Copenhagen have already experienced severe pluvial flooding that has caused extensive damage. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Dynamiken hos organiskt kol i Mälarens avrinningsområde : flöden, drivande faktorer och modellering

    Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, Uppsala universitet/Luft-, vatten- och landskapslära

    Författare :Aram Alsadi; [2015]
    Nyckelord :Total organic carbon; Annual fluxes; HBV model; INCA-C- model; Hydrological effective rainfall; soil moisture.; Totalt organiskt kol; transport per ytenhet; HBV- modell; INCA-C- modell; grundvattenbildning; markfuktighet.;

    Sammanfattning : I denna rapport undersöks hur mängden organiskt kol, TOC (Totalt organiskt kol), varierar i tid och rum i Mälarens avrinningsområde, samt vad det är som styr TOC-halten i Mälaren. Det är viktigt att förstå dynamiken hos TOC i Mälaren och i dess avrinningsområde eftersom ökat TOC i vattnet påverkar vattenkvaliteten och orsakar problem vid beredning av dricksvatten. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Usability of Standard Monitored Rainfall-Runoff Data in Panama, Juan Diaz River Basin

    Magister-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Författare :Jose Eduardo Reynolds Puga; [2012]
    Nyckelord :Juan Diaz; WASMOD; Available Instrumentation;

    Sammanfattning : Water resources demand and natural disasters related to hydro meteorological events haveincreased the interest in hydrological studies in Panama. Runoff estimations are importantfor effective water resources management in any catchment, but the limited quantity andquality of the available hydrological and meteorological data in Panama make it hard forresearchers to come to conclusive statements that can help in good planning.
