    Sammanfattning : The present study investigated the changes in concentration and composition of five selected PFAS substances in the water treatment at the waste-to-energy plant in Umeå. The five PFAS were PFHxA, PFHpA, PFOA, PFHxS and PFOS. As PFAS exists in a variety of consumer products, they will to some extent end up in waste incineration. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : In marine ecosystems around the world, iron (Fe) is a well-studied and important trace element which has been found to stimulate phytoplankton and cyanobacteria growth, as well as limit nitrogen fixation and being essential for Legionella pneumophila which is known as the main cause of Legionnaires’ disease. Fe also contributes to the brownification of freshwater and has recently been documented to increase in concentration in rivers in Sweden. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : This degree project studies the integration of carbon capture system into biomass fired combined heat and power (bio-CHP) plants. The key disturbances from bio-CHP plants include flue gas flow rate, carbon dioxide (CO2) concentration and available heat for the reboiler because the use of versatile biomass and the dynamic operation of CHP plants results in large fluctuations in the properties of flue gas and the heat input for CO2 capture.     Sammanfattning : Climate change and socio-economic development are greatly affecting the quality of freshwater, especially the excessive accumulation of nutrients (N and P), which eventually leads to the occurrence of eutrophication.
