  1. 1. Opportunities with Modular Systems in Level Crossings : A Case Study in the Swedish Railway Industry

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Skolan för industriell teknik och management (ITM)

    Författare :Marcus Ankaräng; [2023]
    Nyckelord :level crossing; railway; modular system; systems engineering; systems development; plankorsning; järnväg; modulsystem; systemteknik; systemutveckling;

    Sammanfattning : Level crossings are a dangerous part of railways, causing several deaths every year. While the safest solution is to remove crossings altogether using bridges or tunnels, this is complicated and cannot be done on a large scale. Many level crossings will therefore continue to exist. 2. 2. Enhancing circular economy through circular public procurement : A case study within the Swedish railway industry

    Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, Luleå tekniska universitet/Industriell ekonomi

    Författare :Josefin Odelstam; Josefine Blomqvist; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Circular economy; circular public procurement; circular requirements;

    Sammanfattning : Purpose: The study aims to identify essential barriers, enablers, and incentives for including circular requirements in tender specification, to facilitate the transition from linear to circular public procurement within the railway industry, thus enhancing a circular economy. This by answering the following research questions: RQ1: What barriers and enablers for circular public procurement within the railway industry exist, and how can the enablers overcome the barriers to facilitate the transition from linear to circular public procurement to enhance a circular economy? RQ2: How can public procurers be incentivized to undergo a transition from linear to circular public procurement within the railway industry? Method: To fulfill the purpose a qualitative case study has been carried out within the Swedish railway industry, focusing on rail vehicle procurement. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Parameter study for an energy efficient suspension for a rail vehicle prototype

    Kandidat-uppsats, KTH/Skolan för industriell teknik och management (ITM)

    Författare :Ludvig Danström; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Delsbo electric; Energy efficiency; Rail vehicle; Suspension system; Delsbo electric; energieffektivitet; fjärder- och dämparsystem; spårfordon;

    Sammanfattning : The push for sustainability in all parts of our society has never been as big as it is currently. One project that aims to produce sustainable innovation in the railway industry is the Delsbo Electric competition where some of the world’s most energy efficient vehicles compete. LÄS MER

  4. 4. From Manual to Robotic -Assessing the Potential Benefits of Automation in Railway Inspections and Maintenance

    Uppsats för yrkesexamina på grundnivå, Lunds universitet/Trafik och väg

    Författare :Benjamin Furberg; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Railway; Inspections; Maintenance; Robotics; Automation; Turnouts; Technology and Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : The railway industry plays a crucial role in the global freight transport and passenger mobility market, providing an efficient and low-emitting mode of transportation. However, to compete with other modes of transportation, the railway must improve its reliability. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Estimating the load weight of freight trains using machine learning

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Författare :Erik Kongpachith; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Railway freight Transport; Rail Vehicle Weighing; Y25 Bogie; Sdggmrss T3000eD; GENSYS; Machine Learning; Regression; Polynomial Regression; Regression Trees; Random Forest Regression; Support Vector Regression; Järnvägsgods transport; Vägning av järnvägsfordon; Y25 Bogie; Sdggmrss T3000eD; GENSYS; Maskininlärning; Regression; Polynom Regression; Regressionsträd; Random Forest Regression; Support Vector Regression;

    Sammanfattning : Accurate estimation of the load weight of freight trains is crucial for ensuring safe, efficient and sustainable rail freight transports. Traditional methods for estimating load weight often suffer from limitations in accuracy and efficiency. LÄS MER
