    Sammanfattning : The aim in the following essay is to describe the characteristics of the man behind verdicts regarding interpersonal violence (IPV). Which explanations does he have for the violence he has used and how does his life circumstances look like? Furthermore, is there gender bias in the justice system: do the gender of the professionals in court affect the verdict or the size of the damages?  The essay is a quantitative study written with positivistic elements and from a perspective of gender order and legal sociology.
