1. How Women's Participation in White Nationalist Groups Affects the Group's Propensity for Violence
Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för freds- och konfliktforskningSammanfattning : Although white nationalism is an ever-growing threat, there has been little research done to extrapolate what makes one white nationalist group more violent than the next, even more lacking is the gender dimensions of these violent propensities. To contribute to this research gap, in this study I ask the question, How does women’s participation in white nationalist groups affect the group’s propensity for violence? To answer this question, I propose a novel theoretical framework that argues white nationalist groups with women members will have a higher propensity for violence than groups without women members. 2. Vita protestanter, brinnande kors : Ku Klux Klan, pan-protestantism och myten om Amerika
Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Teologiska institutionenSammanfattning : The aim of this thesis is to analyse how and to what extent Ku Klux Klan constructed a pan-Protestant interpretation of Christianity based on its “myth of America” (Americanism) during the years 1915–30. Using hermeneutic content analysis and a theoretical approach based on Gramscian “cultural hegemony” and historian of religions Bruce Lincoln’s theory of myth, I examine the construction through three analytical themes: the Klan and the myth of America, the Klan’s pan-Protestantism, the Klan and religious patriotism.
