  1. 1. Modelling the effects of land cover and climate change on watershed hydrology in south-western Ethiopia

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Nicklas Simonsen; [2019]
    Nyckelord :Hydrological model; Soil Water Assessment Tool; SWAT; Land use Land cover; LULC; climate change; erosion; Ethiopian highlands; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Degradation of the hydrological regime is a pressing issue in the Ethiopian Highlands. It is one of the most rapidly degrading landscapes due to its topography and large amounts of annual precipitation. This problem has been exacerbated through anthropogenic influence from land use/land cover (LULC) and climate change. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Monitoring trends of greenness and LULC (land use/land cover) change in Addis Ababa and its surrounding using MODIS time-series and LANDSAT Data

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Tesfaye Gebeyehu Admasu; [2017]
    Nyckelord :Time-series; MODIS; Addis Ababa; Physical Geography and Ecosystem Science; NDVI; Greenness; LULC; GEM; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : NDVI(Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) was introduced in 1974. Despite its limitations, it has been under use for monitoring bio-physical and cultural landscapes from satellite. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Cork before cattle : quantifying ecosystem services in the Portuguese Montado and questioning ecosystem service mapping

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/LUCSUS

    Författare :Marius Von Essen; [2015]
    Nyckelord :validity; InVEST; mapping; sustainability science; Montado; ecosystem services; Social Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : People depend on the benefits derived from nature, so called ecosystem services (ES). ES are a promising framework to evaluate ecosystems and promote conservation, but they are also difficult to measure and visualize, and the accuracy of such efforts is questionable as a basis for land management. 4. 4. Urban classification by pixel and object-based approaches for very high resolution imagery

    Magister-uppsats, Högskolan i Gävle/Samhällsbyggnad, GIS

    Författare :Fadi Ali; [2015]
    Nyckelord :Ancillary data; land use land cover classification; supervised algorithms; GIS; Remote sensing; OBIA;

    Sammanfattning : Recently, there is a tremendous amount of high resolution imagery that wasn’t available years ago, mainly because of the advancement of the technology in capturing such images. Most of the very high resolution (VHR) imagery comes in three bands only the red, green and blue (RGB), whereas, the importance of using such imagery in remote sensing studies has been only considered lately, despite that, there are no enough studies examining the usefulness of these imagery in urban applications. 5. 5. Petroleum activities, wetland utilization and livelihood changes in Southern Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria: 2003-2015

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Unwana Saturday Koffi; [2015]
    Nyckelord :Physical Geography and Ecosystem Science; GEM; iivelihood changes; sustainable management; wetland agriculture; land cover change; remote sensing; petroleum; wetland degradation; Nigeria; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : The state of Akwa Ibom, Nigeria is known as one of the wetlands rich in biodiversity as well as oil and gas reserves. Its wetland ecosystem is noted for its primary support it has provided for the people living in this area. LÄS MER
