1. Role of Lactobacillus reuteri DSM 17938 in survival of Artemia franciscana : development of a new experimental model for probiotic studies
Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för medicinsk biokemi och mikrobiologiSammanfattning : The crustacean Artemia franciscana represents a potential experimental model for human studies. The aim of the project was to assess whether Artemia could be used as a model for investigation of probiotic properties. LÄS MER
2. Energy & redox fluxes in Lactobacillus reuteri DSM 17938 on different sugars
Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Teknisk mikrobiologi; Lunds universitet/BioteknikSammanfattning : Under anaerobic condition the specific growth rate of Lactobacillus reuteri DSM 17938 on different sugars, was analyzed using spectrophotometry. Electron acceptor (fructose) supported cells to cope with poor energy recovery by re-oxidising the NADH, thus enabling ATP formation thru acetate production, while fermenting glucose via the phosphoketolase pathway (PKP) and simultaneously operating via Embden-Meyerhof pathway (EMP). 3. Physiological adaptive mechanism to oxidative stress in Lactobacillus reuteri DSM 17938
Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Teknisk mikrobiologi; Lunds universitet/BioteknikSammanfattning : Probiotics are living microorganisms which could induce a potential health benefit to the host when consumed in adequate amounts. Among the different probiotics in the market, Lactobacillus reuteri strain DSM 17938 is a microaerophilic and heterofermentative organism that is able to tolerate high oxygen conditions compared with another L. 4. A Study of Antimicrobial Effects of Reuterin by Lactobacillus reuteri DSM 17938 on Escherichia coli
Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Teknisk mikrobiologi; Lunds universitet/BioteknikSammanfattning : Background The widespread antibiotic resistance is an imminent problem in today’s world. As the number of antibiotic resistance cases increase, it is inevitable to discover alternate treatment options. Probiotics could be one of the potentially important avenues which could be exploited to treat antibiotic resistance and other infections. LÄS MER
5. Probiotics : how does it affect our health?
Kandidat-uppsats, SLU/Department of Molecular SciencesSammanfattning : The human body consists of about 10 times as many bacteria as our own body cells. Only the gastrointestinal tract can hold up to 400 different bacterial species, where the majority of the bacteria are concentrated to the large intestines. LÄS MER
