1. Exploring Urban Land Cover Changes and the Effect on Nocturnal Air Temperature Dynamics in Helsingborg - A temperature modeling made with TAPM
Master-uppsats, Göteborgs universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaperSammanfattning : In light of increasing global temperatures, urban areas face growing challenges related to heat stress. Alterations in land cover (LC) within cities contribute to changes in the intra-urban climate, predominantly driven by the replacement of vegetated surfaces with impermeable materials. LÄS MER
2. Land Use and Land Cover Changes in Europe and the Impact on Near-Surface Wind Speed in Sweden
Master-uppsats, Göteborgs universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaperSammanfattning : Investigations of Land use and land cover change (LULCC) have recently become of increasing interest. This trend occurs not only based of the importance of biogeochemical processes such as carbon sequestration, but also because of their climate impacts caused by changed biogeophysical properties. 3. Effectiveness of the Costa Rican Payments for Ecosystem Services program in mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions: Trends in carbon stocks 2012-2020
Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Internationella miljöinstitutetSammanfattning : Payments for ecosystem services (PES), a mechanism of incentives or compensation to landowners for provision of ecosystem services, have grown as a tool for meeting conservation goals. The Costa Rican payments for ecosystem services (PSA) program is one of the best-known examples because of being one of the most established. LÄS MER
4. Bioeconomy Strategy effects in Rural Areas : A comparative study of the Alpine region and Inner Scandinavia
Master-uppsats, Stockholms universitet/Kulturgeografiska institutionenSammanfattning : The European Commission Bioeconomy Strategy aims to stimulate an ecologically sustainable economy to mitigate climate change, declining biodiversity, and as an economic and social strategy meant to provide jobs and stimulate growth. The aim of this research project is to understand how the European Commission Bioeconomy Strategy is being interpreted and implemented in two different rural European regions, Inner Scandinavia, and the Alpine region, and based on those findings discuss how a sustainable bioeconomy strategy can be understood primarily in relation to the ecological sustainability goals of decarbonizing the economy and protecting biodiversity. 5. Spatial and Temporal Dynamics of Carbon Sequestration in Stockholm County's Green areas : A GIS-based Analysis
Master-uppsats, KTH/Hållbar utveckling, miljövetenskap och teknikSammanfattning : The human influence of global climate is an issue currently assessed in various mitigation strategies. Stockholm County has committed to becoming carbon neutral by 2040 and negative by 2045 according to the Paris agreement. LÄS MER
