  1. 16. Diamonds in the Rough : Remote predictive mapping using multispectral satellite imagery for kimberlite exploration on northeast Banks Island, NT

    Master-uppsats, Stockholms universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi

    Författare :Anne Farineau; [2015]
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : This study demonstrates the use and limitations of Remote Predictive Mapping (RPM) as an aid to kimberlite exploration on northeast Banks Island, Northwest Territories, Canada. It focuses on the effectiveness of ASTER and Landsat 8 optical multi-spectral satellite imagery for discerning the spectral properties of different bedrock and surficial materials that outcrop or blanket the regional terrain. 2. 17. Detecting changes in cropland extent: A case study within the Lake Chad Basin using classified remote sensing data

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära

    Författare :Rebecka Jenryd; [2014]
    Nyckelord :Lake Chad; irrigation; cropland; classified remote sensing data; KYB; Chari-Logone; GLCC; MCD12Q1; Globcover; bi-temporal analysis; multi-temporal analysis; Technology and Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Access to fresh water is essential for the lives of organisms and for human activities. However, with a growing population that strives after a higher standard of living, the pressure on already limited resources will rise. LÄS MER

  3. 18. The suitability of using Landsat TM-5 Images for estimating chromophoric dissolved organic matter in subarctic Lakes

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Julia Jakobsson; [2014]
    Nyckelord :CDOM; dissolved organic carbon; colored dissolved organic matter; Chromophoric; landsat thematic mapper 5; subarctic lakes; Stordalen; empirical algorithm.; Abisko; DOC; remote sensing; Physical Geography and Ecosystem Science; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Recent trends of permafrost thawing in the subarctic are expected to cause increased release of dissolved organic carbon (DOC) to inland waters, which might have cascading effects on downstream aquatic ecosystems and release of CO2 to the atmosphere. This study therefore aimed at evaluating the applicability of an empirical band ratio algorithm for estimating chromophoric dissolved organic matter (CDOM; a proxy for DOC) from the easily accessible satellite images Landsat TM-5, to counter the inaccessibility of the region in general. 4. 19. Remote sensing of deforestation along the Trans-Amazonian Highway

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Johan Westin; [2014]
    Nyckelord :Trans-Amazonian highway; remote sensing; deforestation; Amazon rainforest; BR230; Physical Geography and Ecosystem Science; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Deforestation is one of the biggest environmental challenges today. Especially severe has the deforestation of the Amazon rainforest been where at least 20% has been cleared the last 40 years. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Land cover change and its influence on soil erosion in the Mara region, Tanzania : using satellite remote sensing and the Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation (RUSLE) to map land degradation between 1986 and 2013

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Klara Århem; Fredrik Fredén; [2014]
    Nyckelord :Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation; land cover change; geography; physical geography; soil erosion; land degradation; RUSLE ; remote sensing; Landsat; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Sub-Saharan Africa suffers from land degradation, depletion of natural resources and rural poverty. In the Lake Victoria Basin, where large parts of the population are small scale farmers, people are facing such issues coupled with altered climatic conditions. LÄS MER
